It was acceptable in 2020 to live in your pajamas, maybe throw on a decent shirt and comb your hair for the Zoom meeting, but as things start to move into a “new normal” and remote work becomes a staple of many companies, it is time to get dressed.
The challenges that corporate uniform and apparel companies faced in the pandemic (and even as we move into post-pandemic world) are plenty but measuring events have been a huge concern. How do you outfit a company from the production floor uniforms to the executive apparel without being able to fit everyone?
Simple, use Sizer.
Sizer is a mobile app which utilizes advanced self-scanning computer vision technology to scan and generate body measurements. So, basically download this app, wear your leggings and a tight shirt, take a photo (strike some poses as instructed) and BOOM- Sizer accurately measures your body, reporting these measurements to the corporate outfitters.
I recently listened to a webinar hosted by the North American Association of Uniform Manufacturers and Distributors (NAUMD) where Sizer CEO Adam Kaplan explained the technology and upcoming advances to the application. The uniform or apparel specifications can be input into the application measuring criteria, so the sizes are precise to the garments being outfitted.
I decided to try it out for myself and am happy to report the following: it works!
I simply downloaded the free app to my mobile phone. I changed into a pair of black leggings and a black tank top and followed the simple instructions. I stood about 10 feet away from the phone camera and followed the on-screen and audio instructions to take a photo standing still and then rotated slowly in a circle. The application told me it would email my measurements to me shortly and I was done. It took 3 minutes to complete the photos and within 15 minutes I was emailed my measurements.
To test the accuracy of the measurements, my husband used a tailor tape and measured me- 100% spot on results!
Naturally, the objections to outfitting remote workers may be why bother? However, many senior leaders have growing concerns about their employees working in pajamas all day. Show leadership how seriously the company’s work is being taken by showing up in branded corporate apparel to the next virtual meeting. Showcasing how professional and collaborative the company is with technology, global reach and flexible virtual connection will elevate potential client impressions and likely increase transactions.
The concerns of the pandemic do not stop with just office personnel. Most essential on-site employees are wearing several types of PPE at work and the idea of passing around the same garments for sizing purposes, or having a stranger taking body measurements does not align with social distancing or sanitizing efforts.
How about the idea of ever having to be sized at work for clothing? For those employees who have struggled with these events due to personal preference, body image issues or sizing concerns- Sizer allows them to supply the needed information from the comfort of their own home.
So here’s to technology that rocks, pandemic or not, pajamas or not, it’s a win-win for everyone.
