B Corp Month: What It Means to Be a Business That Does Better

March is B Corp Month, a time when certified B Corporations around the world come together to celebrate a better way of doing business, one that balances purpose and profit. At City Apparel + Merch, this month is especially meaningful to us, because being a B Corp is not just a badge, it’s a responsibility we take seriously every single day.

 What Is a B Corp?

B Corp stands for Benefit Corporation, a designation awarded to companies that meet rigorous, third party verified standards for social and environmental performance, transparency, andaccountability. Certified B Corporations are evaluated across every part of their business, including how they treat employees, source materials, support communities, reduce environmental impact, and govern responsibly. Unlike self-reported sustainability claims, B Corp certification is earned through a comprehensive assessment conducted by the nonprofit B Lab. It’s a demanding process, and certification must be maintained through ongoing improvement and recertification, making it one of the most respected and credible certifications in business today.

Why B Corp Month Matters

B Corp Month exists to build awareness around what it truly means to be a responsible business. Every March, B Lab and the global B Corp community highlight how companies can be a force for good, showing that success doesn’t have to come at the expense of people or the planet. It’s a reminder that businesses have the power to drive meaningful change through intentional decision making, ethical partnerships, and long-term thinking. At City Apparel + Merch, this philosophy is woven into how we operate and who we choose to work with.

Our Commitment at City Apparel + Merch

City Apparel + Merch has proudly been a Certified B Corporation since 2023, and that commitment continues today. This certification reflects years of intentional work, internal accountability, and a willingness to hold ourselves to a higher standard, especially when it comes to sustainability and social responsibility. Being a B Corp influences every part of our business; from the products we recommend to the suppliers we partner with and the clients we support. It means we consider not only what we do, but how we do it, and the impact those choices have beyond our bottom line.

The Company We Keep

One of the most rewarding parts of being a B Corp is standing alongside a community of likeminded companies that share these values. Certified B Corporations include some of the most respected and purpose driven brands in the world, such as Patagonia and Ben & Jerry’s. Companies that have proven it’s possible to grow a successful business while staying true to people and the planet.

To be counted among organizations like these is something we are incredibly proud of, because earning B Corp certification is not easy, and it’s not meant to be.
